While EV sales have grown rapidly in the U.S. and are forecasted to increase as automakers launch new models, many consumers are still uninformed about the basic facts of owning and operating an electric vehicle. In this hour-long Peer Connect Webinar on Thursday, May 30 at 1 p.m. (ET), we will look at the benefits that EVs can provide to consumers and the role that electricity providers can play in educating consumers about them. First, we will hear from Darren Epps, a product development specialist with Georgia Power, who will discuss the utility’s efforts in EV education. Next, we will hear from David Kolata, the executive director of Illinois Citizens Utility Board (CUB), a consumer watchdog group, who will discuss a new study on the potential effects of EVs on residential electricity rates. The presentation will also include a brief overview of SECC’s Electric Vehicles Toolkit, a collection of consumer education materials (including a video, infographic and guidebook) that was published earlier this year.
