SGCC Rebrands to Meet Evolving Energy Industry

At its annual Members Meeting & Fall Workshop on Sept. 13, the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative announced that it has changed its name to the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC), effective immediately.

The new name reflects a much-changed energy industry from when the organization was initially founded in 2011. Over the past two years, the organization has expanded the focus of its pioneering consumer research from the smart grid and smart meters to include related technologies and services, like electric vehicles, smart thermostats, time-varying rates and more. It was time the name of the organization reflected this shift in focus as well.

The new name, which was voted on by the Board of Directors at the beginning of the year, is accompanied by an evolution of the organization’s brand identity, including a new logo. This effort was conducted throughout the first half of the year by a sub-committee of SGCC members and Interprose, Inc., a strategic communications firm with specialization in B2B technology innovation.
