We are excited to share the 2025 agendas for SECC’s Research and Education & Outreach Committees. These quarterly calendars highlight the key topics that will be explored during committee meetings and published for members and the industry at large throughout the year.
This year, the Research Committee will begin with the “2025 State of the Consumer” report before moving on to the “Consumer Pulse and Market Segmentation – Wave 9” report, the first update to our segmentation framework in nearly three years. Later in the year, the committee will conduct a series of demographic deep dives – Gen Z, low-income and urban vs. rural – before closing the year with a groundbreaking study on the relationship between energy-related upgrades and real estate transactions.
We will also continue the Smart Energy Snapshot Series, which began in 2023, starting with a survey on winter demand response and then exploring two other topics to be named later in the year.
The Education & Outreach Committee also has an ambitious slate of projects for 2025, first continuing its work on heat pumps with the "Cooling Consumer Concerns on Heat Pumps" project. After completing a white paper based on the themes from the "2025 State of the Consumer" report in Q2, the committee will produce a “greatest hits” of energy tips resource in both English and Spanish and will end the year with resources intended for small businesses.
If you're a member and are interested in joining upcoming committee meetings to help us develop these resources, contact SECC’s Deputy Director Jason McGrade to be added to the invites. If your organization is not yet a member, contact SECC's President & CEO Nathan Shannon to learn how you can get involved in these 2025 initiatives.
