Making Energy Bills Make Sense for Consumers

Despite the rise of digital engagement channels, the monthly energy bill remains the most influential touchpoint for communicating programs, affordability options and usage insights. During this 30-minute webinar, we explored how consumers interpret their bills, what information they find useful and how utilities can improve clarity and drive action.

Ben Nathan of E Source opened the session with consumer research on energy affordability, including insights into consumers’ understanding of their monthly bills and their interest in and awareness of support programs.

Then, speakers from DTE Energy and Convey discussed how affordability pressure and extreme weather events have elevated billing clarity as a strategic priority for utilities. They highlighted DTE’s Bill Analyzer Tool, which provides more than two million customers with personalized, self-service insights on usage, cost drivers and upcoming bill forecasts.
