About Old Dominion Electric Cooperative
Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative providing wholesale power to 11 member electric cooperatives in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. At a time when electricity usage is beginning to surpass available resources, maintaining reliable electricity is crucial. Today, the average household has 21 connected devices in their home, more than ever before. At the same time, power plants are being retired, shrinking the supply of always available 24/7 sources of power.
Reliability today means being prepared for the unexpected, like extreme weather events and market volatility. Reliability means that the lights come on for electric cooperative members. ODEC members benefit from ODEC’s generation fleet ownership, which includes state-of-the-art natural gas generation facilities, and from ODEC’s power supply team, which purchases electricity from the market when costs are advantageous. Energy Programming to Support Members
A range of demand response (DR) and energy efficiency (EE) initiatives offers member-consumers the resources to control energy usage and costs, helps ODEC distribution cooperative members lower wholesale power costs and gives ODEC a cost-effective, long-term solution for managing demand in the generation capacity market.
