The Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) is excited to release two new resources in the Questions to Ask to Become a Smarter Energy Consumer series that are designed to help renters save energy at home, make their homes more comfortable and lower their monthly energy bills.
When it comes to saving energy, consumers who rent their homes often face a unique set of barriers compared to homeowners. They typically cannot make changes to the HVAC systems, windows and appliances in the spaces they rent and may even be limited in making smaller weatherization upgrades.
The new two-page fact sheet provides renters with four important questions that they can ask both their electricity providers and their landlords in order to take control of their energy usage and make their homes more comfortable and more energy efficient.
In addition, the short educational video explores many of the actions that a renter can easily accomplish around their home, such as choosing a new electric rate plan, unplugging devices when not in use and using window treatments to their maximum advantage.
Share these new resources with your customers who rent to help them understand that they are still many steps they can take to become smarter energy consumers. Then, visit our consumer website to discover additional educational resources on electric vehicles, renewable energy, electric rates, the smart grid and more.
