Consumer Understanding of Demand Response

As electricity providers across the United States and Canada expand their demand flexibility portfolios to balance the grid, integrate renewables and avoid costly upgrades, understanding what residential customers think about these programs is more important than ever before.

During this 30-minute webinar, SECC’s President & CEO Nathan Shannon shared findings from the “Consumer Understanding of Demand Response” survey, including consumers’ openness to participation and their perception of program benefits.

We also heard from speakers at Portland General Electric, home to one of the nation’s largest flexible load portfolios where 24% of households participate in at least one program. Insights from both behavioral and direct load control programs were connected to the new research findings.
