President & CEO
Patty joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative in January of 2011 as our first President & CEO. Before coming to SECC, she worked for Georgia Tech, where she focused on smart grid research projects and helped to submit almost $10 million in grants to ARPA-E and DOE. Before that, she served as the Executive Director for the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club where she focused on energy policy and programs. Patty also served on the Board of the Smart Grid Society for the Technology Association of Georgia for two years.

Jonathan Field
Communications Specialist
Jonathan joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative in December 2016 as the Communications Specialist. As a member of the SECC team, Jonathan works on developing original and insightful content across various channels to extend the reach of SECC’s research and educational programs. He previously served as the Managing Editor for a B2B media company focusing on corporate health care and employee benefits issues. A native of Atlanta, he received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Georgia State University.

Bridget Meckley
Research Coordinator
Bridget joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative in August 2015 as our Research Coordinator after 30+ years in the utility industry. For most of her career she worked with electric and gas utilities develop business strategies, make process improvements, manage change and implement new technologies. Bridget supports our Research Committee and ongoing research projects including Consumer Pulse, Consumer Voices and our utility case studies. She received her degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Director of Operations
Greg joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative in January of 2011 as Operations Manager. He previously worked with Patty Durand as a Development Coordinator with the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club. He currently manages SECC’s websites, finances and operational resources. In 2015 Greg increased his involvement with Education & Outreach as the Director of Operations. Greg graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with concentrations in International and Financial Economics and is an avid dog lover, occasionally fostering to find rescues new homes.

Deputy Director
Nathan came on as Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative’s Deputy Director in early 2015. In this role, he is responsible for advancing a consumer-friendly, consumer-safe smart grid through research and education. During his tenure, SECC membership has grown almost 40% to over 150 members. Along with his work on the Research and Policy committees, Nathan also leads member recruitment and engagement and routinely presents SECC research at major industry conferences and policy workshops. In his previous role as Director of Operations and Major Gifts Officer at Athens Land Trust he had a focus on policy and sustainability through his work with land conservation and carbon credits. He also gained extensive knowledge in the realm of non-profit development and capacity building. Nathan has a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Georgia and a background in financial management.

Administrative Coordinator
DeMika joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative as Administrative Coordinator in November 2011. As part of the SGCC team, she works on member relations, charting SECC meetings, and helping coordinate SECC events, and generally being extremely helpful. DeMika comes to SECC with a lengthy background in non-profit and has extensive experience in training and event planning. Prior to joining SECC, she was the Event Coordinator/Administrative Assistant at Operation Step-up Inc., where she worked to create college scholarships for students in need. She also created a program in Cincinnati, Ohio where she tutored inner-city students in Mathematics. DeMika received her degree from Miami University of Ohio in Social Science.
