Electric Vehicles: Exploring Consumers’ Cost Concerns Infographic

The “Electric Vehicles: Exploring Consumers' Cost Concerns” survey seeks to understand how affordability impacts consumers’ willingness to switch away from gas-powered vehicles. This Snapshot Survey explores some of the challenges consumers face on the road to electric transportation and reveals insights on educating consumers about the cost benefits of electric vehicles (EVs).

Fielded to a nationally representative sample of 1,539 respondents in late March, this survey found that 54 percent of consumers who don’t currently own an EV are open to owning one in the future. However, costs continue to be a significant impediment to adoption, particularly purchase price, which 40 percent of current non-owners of EVs cite as the single largest cost barrier to ownership.
