The Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) is excited to release two new resources in the Questions to Ask to Become a Smarter Energy Consumer series that are designed to help consumers become smarter electric vehicle (EV) owners, particularly around charging.
EV charging can be significantly less expensive compared to fueling a gas car, especially if time-varying rates or other incentives are utilized. However, research has shown that many consumers are unaware of EV-specific rate plans.
The new YouTube video walks consumers through the basic types of EV chargers for home use and explains why adjusting when they charge can help save them money with an EV-specific time-of-use (TOU) rate plan.
And the two-page fact sheet provides consumers with a set of questions that they can ask when looking to purchase an EV, including "What should I ask my energy provider about owning an EV?" and "How can I optimize my EV charging?"
Share these resources with your customers to help them become smarter, more empowered EV owners. Then, visit our consumer website to discover additional educational resources on heat pumps, renewables, electric rates, the smart grid and more.
